Interesting article over at Duluth News Tribune titled, Networking for Introverts. It’s supposedly an introvert who wrote it. I found some helpful suggestions, and others that are applicable to everyone.
Just a few comments on some of the points, #4 – I find as an introvert eye contact is easy; it keeps the outside buzz quieter.
On #5 – Being at the registration desk is actually easier because why you are meeting everyone as thy come in, there’s a short time you have to spend there. By the end of the arrivals, you could have identified the two or three people who you want to get to know better.
Because as stated in #7, we like to hang out in the back, try to find someone, more of an extrovert, who would be willing to introduce you to some other people. Always easier if they are a friend.
Introverts are naturally better listeners so #8 is really a given.
I had never thought about the benefit of s speed networking event! #10. Our local Chamber has one coming up so I’m going to give it a try!
Some of the tips didn’t work for me.
Have you read it? What are your thoughts about any of the suggestions? Will they work for you? Care to comment below?
Do you hate to sell, or get energized by cold calling? What is your natural tendency when it comes to networking, schmoozing and sales? Take a moment to get honest with yourself when you answer this quick survey.

Pat, I liked how you suggested finding an extroverted fried to help introduce you to others. As an extrovert, I love to do this. Maybe I should be looking for an introverted friend to introduce around 🙂
Keep up the great work!
